Overflow
Overflow sets cropping and scrolling controls (adding scrollbars, etc.). When set to to hidden, this prevents unwanted horizontal scrolling and extra space when elements exist outside the viewport.

Alignment
Control child item positioning through parent element alignment.

Z-index
The z-index value controls the stack order of an element. Elements with a higher z-index value stack on top of those with a lower value. (Nb. Child elements can only stack according to their parent element).
